Wednesday 6.15.16

Eddie's Saturday WODs aren't too bad, just people flexing and clapping and stuff.  So easy.

Today is all about: Grip!

Grip is important in CrossFit.  Mostly so you don't fall off the bar or drop heavy sh#t.  But the grip is also dependent on proximal stability in the shoulder- ever do a bottom up carry? If so, you realize this.  The good news is, the harder you grip, the harder your rotator cuff muscles work to stabilize, because they figure you're lifting something heavy or holding something important.  So, let this be your mantra: "don't let go."

A: skin-the-cat
X 10

Then

B: 21-15-9-
Cal row
- 200 m. farmers carry
45/30# after each round

Here is a video on Skin the Cat from our friends at Gymnastics WOD:

Couple of guys, playing on the rings.  And demonstrating excellent positions of stability, by the way.  30 MU for time wasn't that bad, was it?

Back to the Bar!  Oh, and those pesky Triple Unders..... yeah, those....... might take a while.  See if you can go As Heavy As Possible.

5 front squats
6 triple-unders

Results from 30 Muscle Ups for Time- great work CF UP!

Monday 6.13.16

Fitness, friends and fun.  Weekend Spikeball matchups put coordination, accuracy and stamina to the test, with lots of smiles and laughs.

Tomorrow we start the week with a big one:

30 muscle-ups
For time

This is the perfect gymnastic challenge with a huge metabolic twist.  Watch the video of 2013's Fittest Woman on Earth, Sam Briggs, going for 30 in 3:03.  Notice she is pacing, her goal is 5 every :30.  Pick a reasonable time frame and try to stick with it.  This might be done in 3 min or 15.  We'll work with you to find an appropriate scale, so let's go play on some rings!

Happy B-Day Anthony!! Friday 6.10.16

Happy Birthday to this CF UP OG!  Lookin' good old friend! Best shape of your life?

Been a big week, finish it off with this arm burner.  Ring rows don't sound bad until you carry some heavy stuff OH for a while- try it!

3 rounds
20 supine ring rows
100 m. KB(or DB) OH carry
53/35#’s

Results!

Thursday 6.9.16

Coach Neno says "UP!"  Perfecting the basics should always be priority #1.

So, maybe you thought we were practicing triple unders for fun.  Or, if you knew how coach J Lau programs you'd know she was setting you up this whole time.  So, if you've ever asked yourself, "how much wood could a CrossFitter chip if a CrossFitter could chip wood?" then this one is for you.  And/or if you just want to play with the barbell for 20 minutes, you can do that, too.

Monday 6.6.16

Team CF UP at the Spartan Super this past Saturday. How did you apply your fitness this weekend?

Team events are fun: they bring people together, there is a mutual feeling of suffering and accomplishment, and they present a challenge where you might just push a little harder than you otherwise would.  Now, even though I'm not a huge fan of "participation" ribbons or trophies, after 9 miles of seemingly endless hills, dirt, dodging poison oak, sunshine and water breaks, dammit we earned this one.  We had a great and incredibly strong TEAM, and I know we will be even stronger, both physically and in numbers, next year.  But hey, we train for this every damn day here at CF UP, so who knows where our #fitness will take us by then.

Monday:

15-12-9-6-3
Defecit HSPU 5”/3”
5-4-3-2-1
L-sit rope climbs

Need some help kipping your way though 45 deficit HSPU (sorry, had to add it up for you)?

Oh, and we came up with something about mile 3: next time you want to say f#%k, just say fitness.  Can you do it without smiling? Try it this week!
